The key difference is space. The Maxi provides more than double the floor area, while the Mini takes up less room. Neither should be chosen on size alone: the right enclosure depends on the species and how it will be set up.
What to Check Before Buying a Small Reptile Enclosure
Adult size and behaviour: Check the animal’s adult dimensions and whether it climbs, burrows or spends most of its time on the ground. A small juvenile may soon need a larger home.
Heating and lighting: Many reptiles need a warm-to-cool temperature gradient and species-appropriate lighting. A compact glass terrarium may not provide enough separation for a safe gradient. The cable inlet is a feature for equipment access, not a heating or lighting system.
Ventilation and security: Match airflow and humidity to the species. Check the sliding lid, locking tab and cable opening carefully, especially for small or escape-prone invertebrates.
Substrate and hides: Allow enough space for suitable substrate, shelter and furnishings without compromising movement or access for cleaning.

Gecko, Spider or Scorpion Terrarium?
Searching for a gecko terrarium, spider terrarium or scorpion terrarium? These animals have very different requirements. Some geckos need substantially more height or floor space. Burrowing spiders and scorpions may need deep substrate; climbing species may need extra vertical room. Confirm the exact species’ needs before choosing either enclosure.
